Mercy Radiologists of Dubuque

Mercy Radiologists of Dubuque (MRD) is a private practice radiology group in northeast Iowa along the banks of the Mississippi River. We are currently an eight person group (7.3 FTEs) looking to hire a full-time BC/BE radiologist to join our group in a partnership track capacity, 1 year workup. On-site is preferred but open to hybrid options. A remote employee track option is also available.

Our group is cohesive and completely democratic. All work/vacation schedules are equitable, and as a small private practice group, we have excellent flexibility with the working of our practice. Our group is fairly young with 7 of 8 current radiologists under the age of 45. Our radiologists have fellowship training in body, breast, IR, and MSK. Our group averages 12.5k RVU per FTE a year. The group is collegial in distributing cases to areas of expertise and case consults (e.g. body and MSK MRI).

Onsite/hybrid applicants should be comfortable providing general diagnostic radiology services including mammography and willing to perform or learn basic interventional radiology procedures (arthrograms, breast procedures, para/thora, LP, lung and body biopsies, drain placements). Fellowship training preferred but not required.

We have well-established, long-term relationships with the hospitals and clinics we serve. This includes two hospitals (one covered remotely) and three sites at two outpatient clinics. We work closely with our referring providers to provide excellent care to our patients. We greatly value those relationships as well as those with administration. These factors contribute to high level of job satisfaction. We take pride in the work we do and are looking for someone of the same mindset.

Partner track (Onsite/hybrid):

• 1 yr partnership track, 13-15 weeks of vacation
• Year 1 compensation is negotiable to be commensurate with experience, $450-500k cash plus benefits.
• Partner compensation is top 10 percentile. Benefits include health/dental/malpractice insurance, expense account, and retirement accounts (401k, profit sharing, and cash balance plan).
• Daytime responsibilities are from 7:30-8am to 4-5pm. On most weeks, take 1 call swing shift from 5pm-11pm from home (25-50 studies avg) with a post-call day off resulting in most work weeks being 4 days. This is in addition to 13-15 weeks vacation. Night hawk coverage from 11pm to 7am.
• Call weekends are approximately 1 in 7.5 (100-140 studies avg/day) with nighthawk coverage from 11pm to 7am. All call is done from home/remote outside of the occasional hospital procedure.
• Overall combination of compensation and vacation creates an excellent work-life balance.

Employee track (Fully remote/hybrid):

• Responsibilities include the same daytime shift, swing shift, and weekend calls. Flexible on applicants preference on how many weeks and call shifts to work. Compensation would be on a per-shift basis and negotiable.
• Benefits same as partner track.

Dubuque (pop 70,000) is set in the hills of northeastern Iowa on the banks of the Mississippi River within the “Tri-State” area bordering Wisconsin and Illinois. The community is vibrant and growing with ongoing economic development and a top-rated public school system. The hills and river provide great opportunities for outdoor activities including hiking, biking, skiing, boating/fishing, golf, hunting, etc. There are multiple cultural opportunities, which are supported by the presence of multiple institutions of higher learning, including three separate four-year colleges.

The cost of living in Dubuque is low with relatively easy access to larger cities and destinations (Chicago, IL – 179 mi, Madison, WI – 93 mi, Iowa City, IA – 89 mi, Galena, IL, -16 mi, Minneapolis, MN – 250 mi, Milwaukee, WI – 170 mi).
